Our neighbors at UNT, down in Denton put out a publication for alumni and friends called the North Texan. In the most recent issue there is a feature on Gary Nicholson. Nicholson is a hit songwriter who also has a couple of Grammys for his work on the Delbert McClinton albums Nothing Personal in 2001, and Cost of Living in 2005.

Gary has played in Wichita Falls a few times, billed as Gary Nicholson and as Whitey Johnson, his blues-man persona/alter-ego. I heard of a show that he did once at the Kemp Center for the Arts, and a show at The Iron Horse Pub, but was lucky enough to catch him live (but only as Gary) at a house show, in a backyard off of Speedway Avenue a few years back.
